How effective is your website in attracting students?

id-10067096In early 2013 Robert Rickover and I conducted eight free, public website evaluations for Alexander teachers interested in making their sites more effective. We used as a framework my Tips for an Effective Alexander Technique Website. These evaluations are available to the public as a resource to all Alexander Technique teachers wishing to learn how to make the most out of their website – see Assessment #1, Assessment #2, Assessment #3, Assessment #4, Assessment #5, Assessment #6, Assessment #7 and Assessment #8. Note: Some of these websites have been changed in response to the assessments.

We were inspired to do this by Jeremy Chance’s blog Alexander Technique Career Success in which he presents his excellent 12-step Plan to Financial Success as a Teacher of the Alexander Technique.  Having an effective basic website can perhaps be seen as a much more basic and preliminary step toward having a successful practice!

We alternated our reviews, with one of us providing the primary assessment for each site, and the other adding whatever additional comments they feel would be useful. In order for us to be as helpful as possible, we were absolutely honest – perhaps quite blunt at times – in our assessments.

Get Your Own Private Website Assessment

We are now offering private website assessments for any Alexander Technique teacher who would like guidance on how to improve their site. These evaluations are conducted along the same lines as the public ones, but will be sent to you privately.

  • Cost: $100*

* With each purchase of a website assessment, you are entitled to $50 toward website design or editing by Imogen and/or $50 toward website hosting with (Robert’s web hosting business).
